King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, has ordered the dispatch of emergency humanitarian aid for the benefit of the Palestinian population in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the foreign ministry said.
This aid, which will be transported urgently by Royal Armed Forces planes, consists of 40 tonnes of essential food products, emergency care medicines and blankets.
King Mohammed VI’s decision is said to be part of the Kingdom’s continued support for the just Palestinian cause, and that of its permanent solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people, the Moroccan foreign affairs statement said.
Since the start of violence in the occupied Palestinian territories, the Kingdom of Morocco, whose sovereign chairs the Al-Quds Committee, has strongly condemned and clearly expressed its support for the Palestinian cause, it is indicated.
Rabat, recalls the same source, had pointed out that the continuation of violence further weakens peace efforts in the region, calling for priority to be given to dialogue.
Morocco, which makes the Palestinian cause a priority, has reaffirmed on many occasions “its attachment to the achievement of the two-state solution, living side by side in peace and security”. This solution involves the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, according to the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, supports Moroccan diplomacy.
