The 5th edition of the Moroccan Solar Race Challenge started Saturday morning, in Benguerir, with the participation of 10 teams representing Morocco (06 cars), France (03 cars) and Turkey (01 car).
The first day of this race will be devoted to technical tests, static tests (Safety, Mechanics, Electrical Circuit) and dynamic tests (Braking, Handling, Endurance).
This race was launched in the presence of the famous Moroccan car driver, Michael Benyahia, the director of the Institute of Research in Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN), Badr Ikken, in addition to several other personalities.
The race proper, which starts Sunday, will link the cities of Benguerir and Marrakech on a round trip of 150 km.
Initiated by the IRESEN under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development in the framework of the international competition Solar Decathlon Africa, this first race of solar cars in Africa is organized for the Moroccan students of the higher education in order to develop Moroccan solar cars and to participate alongside their foreign counterparts in a race of 150 km to succeed the challenge.
