The village, which will host the participants of the 12th edition of the African Games, scheduled from August 19 to 31 with the participation of several thousand athletes from the continent, was inaugurated yesterday in the space of the International University of Rabat.
Set up by the organizing committee, this village, which will welcome some 4,000 African champions representing 54 countries, will provide all the amenities to the athletes and official delegations taking part in the African Games edition to be held in several cities of the Kingdom.
All the conditions are in place for the African Games to be held in very good conditions, welcomed the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rachid Talbi Alami on this occasion, expressing his satisfaction at having taken up the challenge of preparing this competition in just six months.
All participants who settled in the African Games village are impressed by the high level of preparations, said the minister, who said he hoped for a good run of competitions, with the participation of athletes who will compete for the medals and try to beat Records.
Regarding the Moroccan participation in these Games, Talbi Alami said that the preparations were satisfactory with the help of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Moroccan National Olympic Committee and sports federations.
For his part, the president of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), Mustapha Berraf, stressed the importance of this event for all Africa, especially the Maghreb, welcoming the good organization and coordination between the various stakeholders.
Highlighting the difficulty of preparing and organizing this continental competition in six months, Berraf noted that all African national committees agree that Morocco has won this challenge, noting that this edition will be one of the best in the world, it includes qualifying events for the Olympic Games.
For his part, the Executive Vice President of the International University of Rabat, Mohamed Abdellaoui, noted that the village will host 4,000 African champions from 54 countries, stating that its infrastructure, housing, the indoor hall and stadiums were rehabilitated and made available to participants.
Abdallaoui praised the efforts made by the Ministry of Youth and Sports by opting for the International University of Rabat, decorated with African colors to match the continental sporting event.
Placed under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, the 12th edition of the All Africa Games will be held in the cities of Rabat, Sale, Temara, Casablanca, Benslimane and El Jadida, with the participation of nearly 6,500 athletes.
