Seizure of more than 7 tonnes of hashish in Morocco

Elements of the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) proceeded, on the basis of precise information provided by the services of the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), to seize a quantity of 7.2 tonnes of hashish in two separate operations carried out in the suburbs of El Jadida and in the M’Hayha area around Fez.

The first operation, led by the National Brigade of the Judicial Police, resulted in the seizure of 05 tonnes of hashish from a utility vehicle, apprehended in a house under construction at douar Tiayba Dar Choufani, in the province of El Jadida. The DGSN indicates that an individual was arrested for his alleged involvement in this case, which crowns the research carried out following the seizure, on June 12 near Sidi Rahal, of 480 kilograms of hashish.

The second operation, carried out by the prefectural service of the judicial police in Fez, resulted in the seizure of 2.2 tonnes of hashish from an agricultural farm in the M’Haya area. There was also an arrest of the farm keeper and a second individual, suspected of being the main person involved in the trafficking operation, in his possession a large sum of money allegedly from this criminal activity.

The individuals arrested were placed in police custody at the disposal of the preliminary investigation ordered by the competent public prosecutor’s offices.
