Solar energy: 3,700 MW already operational in Morocco

According to the Minister of Energy, Mines and the Environment, Aziz Rebbah, “today in Morocco, 3,700 MW are already operational in solar, wind and hydroelectric, bringing the share of renewable energy to about 34% installed power,” said the minister, noting that the results achieved today in the context of the energy transition are very encouraging.

Rebbah explained that beyond reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, “our energy dependency has been reduced from 98% in 2009 to less than 93% currently, a very comfortable reserve margin of the system national electricity supply to ensure our supply under better conditions”.

He also said that in terms of industrial integration, companies for solar photovoltaic systems are already installed in Morocco, in addition to the establishment of a wind turbine blade plant with a capacity of 1,000 MW/both for the local market and for export.
