The volume of strawberries imported by Spain in 2019 was 18.74 million kilos, of which 77.9% came from Morocco.
In 2019, Morocco exported nearly 14.6 million kilos of strawberries to Spain, or 77.9% of the total, for a value of almost 39 million euros and with an average price of 2.65 euros per kilo, according to data from the Estacom statistical service (Icex-Tax Agency).
The total volume of strawberries imported by Spain in 2019 was 18.74 million kilos, of which 77.9% came from Morocco, making the Kingdom the leading supplier of this agricultural product to Spain. Similarly, the total value of strawberries imported by the latter during the last year 2019 was 47.58 million euros with an average price of 2.54 euros per kilo, 81.4% of which was destined for Morocco.
The second strawberry supplier in Spain in 2019 was Portugal with 1.83 million kilos, followed by France with 536,100 kilos and Peru in fourth position with 458,000 kilos. Imports of these red fruits from Portugal amounted to 2.93 million euros (1.6 €/ kg) and 1.15 million in France, with an average price over the year of 2.14 euros on kilo.
Belgium occupies the fifth position of the main strawberry suppliers in this country with 419,800 kilos. This is followed by the Netherlands, which exported almost 391,700 kilos of strawberries to Spain.
