The biggest festival of Europe, “Sziget” takes place every year from 7 to 13 August in Budapest. Nicknamed the European Woodstock, the Festival welcomes the biggest stars of international music. To the surprise of the public and especially Moroccans, this edition welcomes the Moroccan artist Elkhalil Yaaqoubi, aka Qaayel.
The 22-year-old singer will raise the tide by the big stars of music, including British singer Ed Sheeran, American rock band Foo Fighters, rapper Post Malone, and Martin Garrix …
With music concerts but also open-air cinema, exhibitions, contemporary dance, spaces for debate and discussion as well as theater, Sziget received the title of the best European festival in 2014 and the title of favorite European festival of artists in 2016.
On the way to the international
Qaayel was chosen as part of the “Ibis Music” program to represent Morocco at the 27th edition of the Sziget Festival.
The only representative of Morocco, will be among the 9 finalists and will have to compete with other prodigies selected in the same way as him. At the end of this competition, one of them will be awarded the title of “Best Emerging Artist Ibis Music” and an award that will help him launch his career.
This prize will include a collaboration with the 4th Floor Creative Group, which will promote the artist or group, coaching and studio sessions to break into this environment. All you need to guarantee success.
The 22-year-old is an autodidact who composes, plays guitar and piano and mixes his own pieces. The jack-of-all, settled in Marrakech, sings in English and tells a truth of the feelings on melodies which are written between pop, rap and R&B.
He has already collaborated with Madd, Nessyou & Fell’G, and other well-known artists in the Moroccan rap scene. He has just released his latest piece “By MySide” which is hard on several music platforms especially in the MENA region.
Qaayel has become a real ambassador of Morocco, and is the pride of the Kingdom.
