Some of them, like The Gambia, Zambia, Mauritania, Benin, Guinea and Madagascar chose in this regard Morocco, and more precisely the city of Marrakech.
In this sense, Rachid Naifi, director of the Great Stadium of Marrakech, said that the choice of our country is due mainly to the good relations linking the Kingdom to the countries of the continent, the various partnerships signed between the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and some African federations, and the work started almost three months ago by SONARGES to guarantee these delegations ideal conditions of stay.
The Grand Stadium manager also confirmed that the grass of all fields is in perfect condition, knowing that during the three weeks of stay of these teams, 105 training sessions and seven friendlies are planned.
Regarding the choice of Marrakech, Rachid Naifi explained that the city has become a hub for the various sports events thanks to its high-level infrastructure, hotels, international airport and ancillary sites in addition to the Grand Stadium. Another reason is the similarity between the climate of Marrakech and that of Cairo, especially in this period.
On the African teams opting for the ocher city, Guinea will stay until June 14 and will play two friendly matches, while Gambia and Zambia will face, among others, the Moroccan national team on 12 and 16 June respectively on the lawn of the Grand Stade.
Regarding the Atlas Lions who are continuing their training camp at the National Football Center Maâmora, they will join Marrakech in the morning of the day of the match and return to the Center at the end of each meeting. As a reminder, the Moroccan selection will evolve in Group D alongside Ivory Coast, Namibia and South Africa. The national delegation will travel to Cairo on June 18 on a special flight from Rabat-Salé airport.
