TGV: 2.5 million passengers transported at the end of October 2019

The high-speed train “Al Boraq” transported a total of 2.5 million passengers from January to October 2019 in the prospect of exceeding 3 million passengers at the end of December, said Wednesday, the General manager of the National Office of Railways (ONCF), Mohamed Rabie Khlie.

Speaking on the occasion of the first anniversary of the launch of “Al Boraq”, Khlie welcomed this result, which exceeds the Board’s forecasts in terms of the number of passengers for the first year, stating that the average number of travelers on this line is 8,250 passengers per day.

From January to the end of October 2019, a total of 7,000 trains circulated with an occupancy rate of 68% on average, with 28 trips a day, the ONCF General manager said, noting that the punctuality rate of these trains is around 97%.

He also noted that the previously negligible online ticket sales were 15% for the first year, and that the anticipated purchase of these tickets (at least one day in advance) represented 40 % thanks to the Agency’s incentive actions, highlighting a satisfaction rate for users exceeding 92%.
