The 18th edition of the International Film Festival of Marrakech (FIFM) will be held from November 29 to December 7, announced the organizers. Marrakech gives, once again, go to the world cinema, indicates a statement of the Foundation of the festival, emphasizing that the demonstration thus confirms its regularity and the relevance of its concept.
This new edition promises, like the previous ones, to constitute an event at the same time popular (110.000 people attended the projections in 2018) and major professional thanks, in particular, to the new sections and activities programmed within the framework of the Festival, adds the release. In addition to the official competition, the document continues, the Festival maintains its Panorama of Moroccan Cinema and renews the concept of “Conversation With”, which allows professionals and the general public to meet the big names of world cinema.
These are high-quality exchange and debate sessions that each year attracted nearly 500 people, including professionals, students, journalists and film enthusiasts, the source said.
This 18th edition will also be an opportunity for new professionals from several regions around the world to take part in a new edition of “Ateliers de l’Atlas”, the industry and talent development program of the FIFM.
The Festival is also committed to its social vocation by organizing special programs for the benefit of the visually impaired and for the benefit of young audiences, the statement said, recalling that during the 17th edition, 3,500 students from the Marrakech region, accompanied by their teachers were able to follow the films programmed in this section, some of which, for the first time in their lives, went to a movie theater.
