US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo is expected Thursday in Morocco. The top US official is expected to be received in court on Friday by King Mohammed VI, the State Department said.
In addition, Pompeo will hold talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, as well as with the head of government, Saad-Eddine El Othmani.
Michael Pompeo announced last Tuesday that he will travel to Morocco in early December, “one of the strongest partners” in the United States.
“I look forward to reviewing our countries’ strong economic and security partnership and discussing future areas of cooperation,” he told a news briefing.
He said his visit to Morocco will come after NATO’s upcoming summit of heads of state and government scheduled for December 3 and 4 in London, where he will take part alongside President Donald Trump.
