The training of Moroccan football teams playing in the Pro championship (D1/D2) will resume this week, while late matches will be scheduled between July 24 and August 8, 2020, without audience.
Good news for football fans. The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Othman El Ferdaous announced on Tuesday the resumption of training for the clubs of the national professional league as well as the date for the resumption of the matches of the championships.
At a meeting of the Social Sectors Committee in the House of Representatives, the minister announced that, in coordination with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the ministries of health and the interior, this matter had been studied. Thus, a health protocol was agreed and will be unveiled today at the meeting of the FRMF steering committee.
Othman El Ferdaous explained, in this sense, the training of the national teams will restart this week until the end of July, while the Botola pro will be back at the end of July.
This Tuesday afternoon, and after the meeting of its steering committee, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced that after recent deconfinement measures, it was decided to “submit the members of the clubs from the national championship to medical tests according to the health protocol in force” and to “resume training for clubs in the national championship D1 and D2 from Thursday 25 June in two stages”.
Random tests, five changes instead of three and breaks in each half
Thus, the first will consist of “individual training of five players on a half-court for ten days”, followed in a second stage by “collective training for twenty days”. During this phase, the FRMF intends to select random samples of the players for three days for the Covid-19 tests according to the health protocol in force.
The same source announces the “programming of late matches between July 24 and August 8, 2020 without audience”, and notes that the FRMF will rule and approve “all of the match results and resumption of the remaining days of the Pro championship (D1/D2) season 2019-2020 during the period from August 12 to September 13, 2020”.
While announcing that the 2020-2021 season will kick off on October 16, 2020, the Federation recalls some special measures during the games of the current season. Thus, in application of the recommendations of the International Football Association Board (IFAB), clubs will be able to make five changes in a single match instead of three previously authorized, as part of provisional measures taken to mitigate the impact of matches on players after this pandemic.
Also on the menu is “suspension of play during a match for three minutes after thirty minutes of the start of each half to allow players to hydrate.”
For the National Pro Championship, the two games will be scheduled for Friday, three for Saturday and three for Sunday. They will start at 6:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., says the FRMF press release.
The training of clubs in the Amateur division, all categories combined, of regional leagues, clubs of the minimal national championship, of women’s football clubs, of futsal will start, in turn, from July 15, 2020, while the matches of these categories will resume on August 15, 2020.
