Former CGEM President Miriem Bensalah Chaqroun has been appointed a member of the Global Investors for Sustainable Development (GISD) Alliance. This designation is part of a broader UN effort to select 30 influential business leaders to join the Alliance.
The members of the Alliance, created at the initiative of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, will work together over the next two years to secure billions of dollars in private sector funding for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Miriem Bensalah Chaqroun has been appointed as Director of the Holmarcom Group and Vice-Chairman of the company “Les Eaux Minérales d’Oulmes”.
The GISD Alliance is co-chaired by Oliver Bäte, CEO of the Allianz Group, and Leila Fourie, CEO of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, and includes executives from major global companies, such as Bank of America, Citigroup, ICBC, Infosys, Investec, Santander and UBS.
One of the three working groups of the GISD Alliance, in charge of concretizing investment opportunities in the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular in emerging countries, will be co-chaired by the Allianz Group and “Les Eaux Minérales d’Oulmes”.
The aim is to make a shift in the investment ecosystem to reach evolving investment opportunities, lead to innovative financing and investment channels for sustainable development, and strengthen cooperation with Member States multilateral development banks and other long-term investment partners.
