UN: Under-Secretary Mueller visits Morocco

The UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator Ursula Mueller has begun a three-day visit to Morocco, where she will attend a conference in Rabat on Wednesday to mark 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Geneva Conventions.

Mueller will speak at this conference entitled “70 years after the adoption of the Geneva Conventions: the challenges posed to humanitarian law,” said Tuesday in New York, the spokesman for the UN Secretary-General.

The conference, jointly organized by the Kingdom of Morocco and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), will feature the participation of several senior government officials and the ICRC, as well as diplomats and experts in the field.

In addition, the UN official will also hold meetings with Moroccan officials to discuss the multilateral humanitarian system and the contributions of the Kingdom to this system, the spokesman added.
