The US Department of state approves the sale to Morocco of 25 M88A2 armored recovery vehicles (Hercules). The contract amount is $ 240 million.
These vehicles, currently used by the American army, will be used as logistical and mechanical support for the Moroccan tanks, in particular the 240 Abrams tanks recently acquired from the United States.
The main role of the M88A2 is to repair or replace damaged parts in fire fighting vehicles. It can also be used to start other vehicles, provide energy for impact wrench hydraulics, as well as the means to refuel as needed.
