The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) is expected to deliver its verdict on the final of the CAF Champions League at the end of July. This is what Said Naciri has just announced on Radio. Some sources mention July 31.
Wydad Casablanca had seized the CAS about the “arbitration massacre” during the final-return of the African Champions League against Esperance of Tunis (EST), played at the Olympic Stadium Radès (suburbs of Tunis). The Tunisians did the same and complained to the CAS.
Recall that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided, after an emergency meeting of its executive committee in Paris, to replay the match between the Casablanca WAC and Esperance Tunis (EST) account for the final return of the African Champions League.
The match will be replayed after the African Cup of Nations (AfCON) on a field outside Tunisia, told the press the advisor of the president of the CAF, Hédi Hamel, stating that the EST will return the Trophy and medals which were handed to him.
Disputed at the Olympic Stadium Radès (suburbs of Tunis), this final had a chaotic end following the injustice which the referee of the meeting, the Gambian Bakary Gassama, was guilty. He had indeed refused to grant the equalizer of WAC scored by Walid Karti in the 59th minute for a supposed offside without the possibility of resorting to the defective VAR to confirm its perfect regularity.
