A Brazilian judge has banned the soccer legend Ronaldinho from traveling abroad because he has not been paid a fine with his brother.
Ronaldinho and his brother were barred from traveling outside Brazil because of the fine of £ 1.75 million, the Sun newspaper reported.
Ronaldinho was scheduled to take part in the Dubai International Sports Conference, which also saw the Globe Soccer Awards, but the former Brazilian international was barred from traveling and his passport was confiscated like his brother.
The Brazilian judge issued the decision last November, Ronaldinho was out of the country at the time, but returned during the “Christmas” and the authorities seized his passport to prevent him from leaving until the situation is settled.
“We seem to be dealing with a situation in which the guilty party is clearly making use of the law before Brazilian society and the world,” the Brazilian prosecutor said recently.
The Brazilian public prosecutor fined Ronaldinho and his brother for “environmental assault” in a case of involving a nature reserve in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 2015.
