As part of the organization of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund which will take place in October 2021 in Marrakesh, a high-level delegation led by Mrs. Yvonne Tsikata, Secretary General and Vice-President of the Bank Global and Mr. Jianhai Lin, Secretary General of the International Monetary Fund, visited Morocco on 14 and 15 February 2019.
The members of this delegation were received on February 15, 2019 in Rabat, by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Mohamed Benchaaboun, who stressed the importance of the Moroccan experience in the organization of major events and reiterated Morocco’s commitment to succeed in this event.
During this mission, the members of the delegation, accompanied by the Organizing Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, visited the site planned for the organization of this event in the city of Marrakesh. On this occasion, explanations were given to them as to the provisions and arrangements provided for in this context.
It should be noted that an action plan has been prepared by the Ministry of the Economy and Finance to prepare and ensure the success of this event, in coordination with the ministerial departments and administrations concerned. It should be noted that the organization of the 2021 Annual Meetings will be an opportunity to present the structural reforms initiated by Morocco as well as the various advances made by our country. It will also be an opportunity to discuss and discuss ways of promoting international and regional cooperation.
The importance of the expected participants, decision-makers and big bosses of international finance, international experts and representatives of the major media and opinion leaders, should also contribute to strengthening the image of the Kingdom, as a stable, open and tolerant country, combining tradition and modernity.
This event will be an opportunity to highlight the rich heritage of the Kingdom, its secular history and culture. The holding of this event in the city of Marrakesh, should have a positive impact on the local economy, its attractiveness and its tourism infrastructure.
