A Moroccan woman named in UN Advisory Committee

Moroccan Najat Maalla M’jid has been appointed to the United Nations Advisory Committee on Civil Society on the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse.

The duties of the pediatrician include advising the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, on ways to strengthen preventive measures and accountability mechanisms to combat sexual exploitation and abuse by United Nations personnel. United Nations and non-United Nations forces acting in accordance with the mandate of the Security Council.

Najat Maalla M’jid has been engaged for three decades in the protection of vulnerable children. Member of the CNDH, she was, between 2008 and 2014, UN special rapporteur on the sale, child prostitution and child pornography.
