A young Moroccan cyclist joined an Israeli team

Young Moroccan cyclist El Mehdi Chokri, 23, tries to explain why he joined the Israel Cycling Academy (ICA), the only Israeli cycling team.

In a statement, Chokri said he signed a contract with the Hebrew state team three months ago. And this, through his former coach and ex-agent, Jean-Jacques Henri.

His decision, said the young cyclist, came after he was denied support from no party, despite holding multiple titles, both nationally and continentally.

In addition, according to him, the precarious situation suffered by his family forced him to accept this proposal from the Israeli team, without further consideration of the consequences likely to ensue.

However, he also added that he had received a communication from an official of the Royal Moroccan Cycling Federation (FRMC), asking him about the ins and outs of this contract.

And the cyclist stresses that he is ready to respect any decision emanating from the FRMC, while being obliged to provide for his family and, also, to evolve to higher levels.

And El Mehdi Chokri, holder of the Gold Medal of the Arab Road Championship for young people, in 2015, to conclude that he was very well received within his new team and that he had obtained there all the support he missed when he was on the national cycling team.
