Moroccan player Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, who recently acquired Spanish nationality, has decided to turn his back on the Morocco team to play for Spain.
According to the local press, the Barcelona player finally decided to give up the Atlas Lions to be able to play with the Spanish selection and at the same time put an end to any speculation concerning his arrival or not in Morocco in order to prepare for the Africa Cup of the Nations (AfCON 2022 in Cameroon).
The strategy employed by the Spaniards finally paid off. After FC Barcelona put pressure on the player, threatening him not to line up for the A team, the federation came into play by promising him a place in La Roja. In addition, the authorities have been called to the rescue to quickly provide papers to the native of Beni Mellal, who this week obtained his Spanish passport.
Anyway, Abdessamad already seems convinced as on social media he has just deleted all mention of the Morocco team.
