Achraf Hakimi continues to cause a sensation in the football world. The Moroccan international adds another distinction to his record, ranked best right-back in the world by sports television channel ESPN.
For the sixth year in a row, ESPN has established its ranking of the best players of the season. 77 experts made selections from a list of over 300 players and managers.
Ten players were chosen for each position. In the ranking of the best right-backs in the world, Achraf Hakimi is on the first step of the podium.
“Hakimi turned out to be the perfect winger on the right side of Scudetto-winning Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan squad. Much like with Borussia Dortmund before, the Morocco international – who can also play on the left – was an uncontrollable presence, causing a constant offensive threat with his strong winger running and dribbling skills. He has scored seven remarkable league goals for Inter and has made an impressive start to his Ligue 1 career following a € 60 million transfer this summer,” ESPN wrote.
According to the same source, the former Inter Milan star had the biggest impact on top-tier PSG summer arrivals.
A ranking that comes after that of Goal, in a poll in which the PSG player was voted best right-back in the world, with 56% of the vote.
Most recently, the Atlas Lion was ranked the 21st best player in the world in Goal’s 50 Best Football Players for 2021.
The Moroccan star continues his meteoric rise. After leaving his mark in Serie A in the ranks of Inter Milan, with whom he was crowned champion of Italy, the young talent, aged 23, continues to impress since his arrival at Paris Saint-Germain and has scored 3 goals and delivered 2 assists this season in 14 games played.
As a reminder, PSG spent 71 million euros (including bonus) to acquire the services of the versatile full-back, making him the most expensive defender in the club’s history.
