AfCFTA: EU supports creation of African Trade Observatory

The European Union (EU) will provide € 4 million in financial support for the creation of the African Trade Observatory, a key pillar for the creation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The future observatory will have the task of collecting data and analyzing flows between African countries.

This information will be passed on to policy makers and economic operators, enabling them to identify opportunities and put in place evidence-based policies. It should be noted that the EU has allocated € 50 million to support this free trade area for the period 2018-2020.
