“Africa Digital Medical Hub”, an area of hope

“Digital health” is one of the most hopeful areas for building health systems that can tackle challenges such as access to care, human resource shortages and widespread universal health coverage (CSU), said Wednesday in Marrakesh, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Pr. Hicham Nejmi. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Africa Digital Medical Hub and the Africa Health Tourism Congress, two events dedicated to innovation in the service of health, Nejmi noted that the Ministry of Health identifies “digital health” as a priority intervention axis in support of the 2025 Health Plan and in continuity with the various sectoral programs already launched during the last years.

In this context, he stressed that Morocco plans to commit heavy investment in innovation and experimentation in telemedicine and e-health ranging from digital hospital to the creation of telemedicine platforms in the 12 regions of the Kingdom. These investments will improve access and equity in care at a lower cost and provide better treatment with greater comfort and safety for the patient, he added, noting that UHC will not be achieved. without the help of “digital health”.

Congress director Khalil Daffar noted that telemedicine has become a reality in Morocco and is being tested in some parts of Morocco to alleviate the lack of human resources. Digital health will play a lever in strengthening the national health system, he insisted.

The vice-president of the National Confederation of Tourism, Fouzi Zemrani, underlined, for its part, that Morocco has become one of the leading destinations of medical tourism. “The Kingdom, which has all the advantages and competitive advantages in terms of health and medico-social offer, has emerged as a flagship destination for followers of medical tourism,” said in this context. Organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Health, the Africa Digital Medical Hub and the Africa Health Tourism Congress aim to discuss the place of “digital health” in the African ecosystem with a focus on on Morocco. This event of digital innovation in the service of health also offers the opportunity to highlight the prospects for the development of digital health, current and future innovations with regard to public health, human brakes, regulatory fears or organizational.

These days (19-20 December) enabled startupers and industrialists to share their experiences and present their technological innovations in this area.
