Morocco and the French Development Agency (AFD) have recently signed a grant agreement of 20 million euros for the financing of a project for the development, irrigation and adaptation of agriculture to climate change in downstream of the Kaddoussa Dam in Errachidia Province.
The objective of this project is to improve resilience to climate change and the sustainability of agricultural development in the Boudnib Plain by promoting the development of a productive and sustainable irrigated agriculture and the preservation of the groundwater resource, indicates Monday a statement from the AFD.
Delegated to AFD by the Green Climate Fund, the UN’s financial mechanism, this grant comes on top of a 40 million EUR loan granted by the Agency in June 2017.
This additional funding will help adapt agriculture to climate change in the oases and fight against desertification by participating in the construction of the irrigation network.
