Renault and Fiat Chrysler are preparing to announce a proposed alliance up to a merger. This project could be announced Monday, May 27th.
“Renault and Fiat Chrysler are discussing a capital merger and are preparing to make a communication tomorrow morning,” said a source close to the discussions. The project of alliance had been discussed under the era Carlos Ghosn.
With its Nissan and Mitsubishi allies, Renault has become the world’s largest automotive group in terms of volumes sold, with nearly 10.76 million units sold in 2018, followed by Volkswagen (10.6 million) and Toyota (10.59). An alliance with Fiat Chrysler will allow the whole Franco-Japanese to take a considerable lead over the competition.
