In Morocco, more than two million people are affected by the exploitation of the agroforestry system of the argan tree, which covers an area of 830,000 hectares.
And according to figures from the Autonomous Establishment for Export Control and Coordination (EACCE), the quantities of argan oil exported increased from less than 40 tonnes in 2003-2004 to more than 343 tonnes in 2009-2010.
The main importing countries are France (78%), Germany (7.6%) and Switzerland (7%).
