The Central Bureau of Forensic Investigations (BCIJ) announced that on Friday it dismantled a terrorist cell composed of eight extremists operating in the city of Tangier, including the brother of two fighters in the ranks of “Daesh” on the Syrian-irakienne scene.
A statement from the BCIJ, under the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), indicates that this operation, which is part of efforts to address the terrorist threats related to the organization called “Islamic State” , allowed the seizure of electronic devices, knives, a piece of black cloth symbol of “Daech”, paramilitary uniforms, in addition to two arcs of underwater shooting.
The preliminary investigation revealed that members of this cell (20 to 31 years old), supporters of “Daesh”, adhered to the propaganda of this terrorist group and its extremist speeches, while attempting to perpetrate major terrorist operations in the Kingdom, the statement said.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts of Moroccan security services to address all threats likely to undermine the security and stability of the Kingdom, adds the same source.
The defendants were placed in police custody for the purposes of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, while investigations are ongoing to arrest other accomplices suspected of links with this terrorist cell, concludes the press release.
