Economy and Finance Minister Mohamed Benchaaboun held talks in Rabat today with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini on the eve of the adoption by a large majority (444 votes) of the agricultural agreement by the European Parliament between Morocco and the European Union (EU).
In a statement to the press after the meeting, Mohamed Benchaaboun welcomed the adoption by the European Parliament in Strasbourg of the Morocco-EU agricultural agreement, noting that the talks with Federica Mogherini were the opportunity to consider the economic and financial aspects of the agreement.
In this regard, he called for speeding up the pace of its implementation and for rapidly activating its mechanisms and conventions, particularly with regard to the tax and support aspects of Morocco in a number of areas related to economic, financial and social issues.
The Minister highlighted on this occasion the important role played by Morocco at the level of the economy on the African continent, emphasizing that Morocco is a hub to Africa for the EU.
During a two-day visit to the Kingdom, Mogherini met with several senior Moroccan officials. The objective is to consolidate the momentum of relaunching relations between Morocco and the EU and to review bilateral relations in particular in the political, economic, security and migratory fields.
