BMW: The new generation of electric vehicles will have cobalt from Morocco

In order not to be exposed to sanctions against builders who use cobalt from mines where children work, BMW has said it will stock up in Morocco and Australia.

BMW purchasing board member Andreas Wendt said that the new cobalt supply would be used in the automaker’s next generation of electric vehicles in 2020.

BMW plans to buy cobalt from Moroccan and Australian mines to the detriment of those in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where supply chains are not strictly controlled.
