Morocco will be a candidate for the organization of CAN 2019.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) will officially file Morocco’s candidacy with the competent authorities of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
And to add that the deposit of the file of candidature will be done “in the few days to come”.
Regularly cited by the media as a possible replacement for Cameroon, Morocco, which has all the necessary infrastructure to host a major event, sees its chances strengthened. Indeed, the Kingdom is already benefiting from more than 34 countries (out of 55 CAF members), in addition to that of President Ahmad Ahmad.
Remember that after having withdrawn the CAN 2019 organization in Cameroon, the CAF decided to relaunch a new application procedure to designate another host country. The continental football body announced Thursday, December 6, the opening of applications for the organization of the African tournament.
“Interested member federations will have to submit their application to CAF no later than Friday, 14 December at midnight (Cairo time). From 15 December, CAF will announce the list of shortlisted applications, ask for additional information from the bidders and possibly organize on-site visits to complete the evaluation of the applications”, reads the statement of the CAF.
