Chariot signs a contract with Stena Drilling for an off-shore well in Morocco

British company Chariot Oil & Gas has just signed a contract with Stena Drilling, one of the world’s leading independent drilling groups. The objective of this agreement is to use the Stena Don drilling platform for the Anchovy gas appraisal well provided for in the Lixus license, off the coast of Morocco.

We learn that drilling operations are scheduled to begin in December 2021 and should last up to about 40 days. Note that Stena Don is a semi-submersible platform, suitable for drilling, completion and reconditioning operations.

The two parties stress that the objectives of the drilling are to unlock the development of the sands discovered by confirming the volumes of gas resources, the quality of the reservoir and the productivity of the well. It is also about providing a future production well for the development of the field, and potentially deepening the well with the goal of establishing a broader resource base for longer term growth.

“The signing of this contract is an important moment in our drilling campaign planned for the Lixus permit, off the coast of Morocco,” said Adonis Pouroulis, interim CEO of Chariot. “We expect drilling to begin in December, with the well expected to take up to 40 days to drill. As a team, we have been focused on completing the drilling campaign for which we recently raised funds, and we are delighted that awarding this contract brings us one step closer to that goal. We look forward to keeping our stakeholders informed as we are getting closer to the date of entry into production,” he added.
