CMI is working to improve card payments

The Interbank Electronic Money Center (CMI) carries out actions to accelerate the development of electronic payments and the dematerialisation of trade transactions. From 1 December 2018 to 31 January 2019, users benefit from numerous benefits that encourage them to use their payment cards more.

The Interbank Electronic Money Center (CMI) remains committed to the development of electronic payments and the dematerialisation of commercial transactions in Morocco. With this in mind, the leading institution for electronic banking in the kingdom, in collaboration with Al Barid Bank, the Bank of Attijariwafa, Banque Populaire, BMCE BANK, BMCI, CIH Bank, Crédit du Maroc, Crédit Agricole du Maroc and Société Générale , a national operation to promote payment by credit card. From December 1, 2018 to January 31, 2019, cardholders can take advantage of many benefits that encourage them to use their credit cards more. As a reminder: the CMI “connects promotional activities with its partners to play a vital role in the dematerialisation of commercial transactions.” The loyalty campaign & # 39; FID & You & # 39 ;, which was launched by the CMI a few months ago, focuses for example on all Moroccan credit card holders via a cumulative point system. A dynamic that today capitalizes on the success of its “CMI Fidelity” platform, which has already registered more than 70,000 members who benefit from benefits and discounts every day thanks to numerous partnerships with Moroccan brands. Thanks to this commitment, the CMI continues to support the positive trend of the evolution of electronic payments in Morocco.

Indeed, card payments continue to show a steady increase in Morocco. At the end of October 2018, the electronic payment activity was characterized by an increase in payment activity, both for Moroccan bank cards, which reached a volume increase of 27.3% to 47.9 million transactions, for foreign bank cards, which increased by 31.5% to 7, 8 million transactions. The CMI has 46.740 TPE & # 39; s, of which more than half have the NFC capacity and accepts contactless card payments or Applepay and Samsungpay mobile applications. The number of active traders at the end of October 2018 was 29,137 compared to 25,890 a year earlier, an expansion of the network of active traders of 12.5%. Internet payment activity also accelerated strongly during this period, with + 28.2% in number to reach 6.9 million transactions and + 22.5% in value, resulting in 2.7 billion MAD.
