Coronavirus: 6th confirmed case in Morocco

A 6th case of coronavirus was recorded on Wednesday in Morocco, according to the Ministry of Health. She is a 64-year-old French national of Senegalese origin who arrived in Fez on Thursday 5 March from France.

According to the department of Aït Taleb, the patient, who suffers from a chronic illness, presented respiratory symptoms on Saturday March 7, before going to a hospital where she was taken care of by a specialized medical staff who suspected contamination with coronavirus.

“The analyzes carried out at the Institut Pasteur-Maroc laboratory were positive and the patient was treated in accordance with the sanitary procedures in force,” said the ministry’s press release.

The ministry said that “its services are making the necessary arrangements for this type of case, in accordance with national and international health standards, as well as making sure to identify its contacts for an assessment of their possible contamination”.
