Covid-19: First childbirth of an infected woman in Morocco

The Mohammed VI University Hospital Center (CHU) in Oujda recorded last Thursday the first childbirth case of a pregnant woman infected with the coronavirus.

The pregnant woman at her ninth month of pregnancy was welcomed on April 6 in the emergency department dedicated to patients affected by the coronavirus (Covid-19), explains the CHU in a press release. She was transferred from El Hassani Hospital in Nador in coordination with the Emergency Medical Service (SAMU-05).

The childbirth took place by caesarean section on April 9 in a surgical complex dedicated exclusively to pregnant women affected by the coronavirus and this, under the supervision of a full medical team, adds the same source while affirming that the operation took place in good conditions.

The mother, whose state of health is stable, continues her treatment in the hospitalization service of patients with coronavirus, and the newborn baby is in good health and analyzes confirmed that he was not contaminated by the virus, reassures the press release.
