Morocco received 700,000 doses of the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine, to speed up its vaccination campaign and extend it to young people aged 12 to 17, from Monday 23 August. Dr. Saïd Afif, member of the Scientific and Technical Committee, confirmed the receipt of this new batch.
The expert also specified that these vaccines will be reserved for young people aged between 12 and 17 years old, citing “the absence of clinical and scientific studies on the side effects on this age group of the vaccine developed by Sinopharm”, currently in use in Morocco. He also confided that this decision had been previously validated by the Scientific and Technical Committee.
On Thursday, the Ministry of Health announced the organization of training courses for health professionals involved in the vaccination campaign. The aim of this initiative is to cover aspects relating to the use of the vaccine, produced by Pfizer/BioNtech laboratories, the outlet added.
