On the basis of precise information provided by the services of the Directorate-General for Territorial Surveillance, the Prefectural Police Service of Tetouan proceeded on Friday evening to arrest a Spanish national who was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Spanish judicial authorities, and under a red notice from Interpol, to serve a 58-year sentence for premeditated homicide, kidnapping, forcible confinement and escape from a prison.
According to a statement from the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN), the questioning of the spanish comes within the framework of bilateral cooperation relations between the Kingdoms of Morocco and Spain in the areas of security and crowning measures of close and precise coordination between the Moroccan security services and their Spanish counterparts in the fight against all forms of transnational organized crime.
The Spanish national, alias “El Ruso”, “El Rober”, having links with networks of violent crimes in Spain, escaped, on November 1, 2018, during his transfer from a penitentiary institution in Madrid to Spain hospital, making use of violence against elements of the civil guard responsible for the transfer operation, the same source said.
According to investigations carried out on this subject, the suspect managed to enter the national territory by using a Spanish passport with a false identity before it was located and stopped in Tetouan, adds the DGSN.
The respondent was placed in police custody at the disposal of the investigation carried out under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, pending the referral to the competent judicial authorities to examine the procedure of his extradition to the Spanish authorities, concludes the communicated.
