Dozens of cases of the Delta variant detected in Morocco

The Indian variant (Delta) of Covid-19 has been raging for several weeks in Morocco. The Minister of Health, Khalid Aït Taleb said that dozens of cases have been recorded in four regions of the kingdom. He once again warns Moroccans against toughening health measures.

Faced with the deterioration of the epidemiological situation in the kingdom (increase in the number of Covid-19 cases by more than 60%), the Minister of Health has launched a new alert. He calls on citizens to strictly respect the health measures enacted to curb the spread of the coronavirus and its variants.

“Citizens must comply with the restrictive measures. Otherwise, we would have to take drastic and control measures”, alerted the Minister of Health, Khalid Aït Taleb, in a statement to the press. Also, he said that dozens of cases of Covid-19 variants including 43 Delta variant contaminations have been detected in four regions of Morocco. However, it does not specify the regions concerned.

For the minister, the situation is “very worrying”. “We cannot stand idly by in the face of this slackening in compliance with the said measures. We wanted to ease the restrictions because it is a period marked by summer vacation, the return of Moroccans from abroad and the approach of Eid Al-Adha,” the minister continued.

“Vaccinated people must also know that failing to achieve collective immunity, we are not yet safe from possible contamination: we can be a carrier of the virus and infect those who are not, “warned Khalid Ait Taleb.
