Drug Trafficking: Arrest in Tangier of a Portuguese Person Subject to an International Search Notice

The Prefectural Police Department of Tangiers arrested, Tuesday night, a Portuguese national subject to a notice of an international search launched since 2017 by the judicial authorities of his country, for international drug trafficking, said the Directorate National Security Council (DGSN).

“This operation is part of the efforts of the DGSN’s services to strengthen mechanisms for international cooperation in the security field and to intensify the tracking procedures of internationally sought after persons in connection with security matters in drugs and psychotropic drugs, as well as other forms of cross-border crime,” DGSN said in a statement.

The investigation revealed that the 47-year-old respondent was illegally established in Morocco, said the same source, adding that the search of the apartment rented by the defendant resulted in the seizure of 200 grams of chira, doses of cocaine and cell phones and a car, which were made available for the investigation.
