El Othmani: Morocco takes special interest in Cooperation with IMF and WB

Head of the government Saad Eddine El Othmani underlined the special interest Morocco takes in reinforcing cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB).

Morocco takes special interest in cooperation with the two financial institutions as part of the various partnership programs, said El Othmani during his meeting with Vice President and Secretary General of the World Bank Yvonne Tsikata, and IMF Secretary General Jianhai Lin, on a visit to the Kingdom as part of the preparations for the annual meetings of these two institutions, scheduled in October 2021 in Marrakesh, said a statement from the Department of the Head of Government.

During this meeting, attended by Minister Delegate for General Affairs and Governance Lahcen Daoudi, El Othmani welcomed the choice of Morocco for the organization of the annual meetings of the institutions, which is the largest international gathering of financial operators, saying that Morocco has the logistical and human resources, as well as the expertise necessary to ensure the success of this event, like other major international events organized in the Kingdom.

He also highlighted that the organization of this international event in the African continent is symbolic, recalling the special importance that Morocco attaches, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, to the economic and social development of the African continent and its commitment to development programs for the benefit of the continent, in collaboration with its international partners, said the same source.

For their part, the representatives of the World Bank and the IMF expressed their satisfaction with the human potential, infrastructure and local coordination during their visit to the Kingdom.
