The Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 crash has “clear similarities” with the Indonesian airline Lion Air’s similar aircraft, Ethiopian Transport Minister Dagmawit Moges said on Sunday.
Preliminary black box data from Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 “show clear similarities” with the Indonesian airline Lion Air’s flight 610, the Ethiopian minister added.
“Ethiopian investigators and US experts on the site have also confirmed the accuracy of the information,” the Ethiopian minister confirmed.
Recall that the crash last Sunday Ethiopian Airlines’ Boeing 737 MAX, which was making the link Addis Ababa-Nairobi, killed 157 people.
The plane, which was received just four months ago, was on a scheduled flight to Nairobi and crashed six minutes after taking off from Addis Ababa airport near Bishoftu, 60 km from the capital.
There were 33 different nationalities aboard the plane according to the authorities. None of the 149 passengers and 8 crew members on board survived the crash. Two Moroccans lost their lives.
