King Mohammed VI sent a message of support and solidarity to the French President, Emmanuel Macron, following the fire that ravaged Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.
In this painful circumstance, the Sovereign expresses to the French President, on behalf of the Moroccan people and in his personal name, the expression of all his support and solidarity.
The king also addresses his thoughts to the entire French people, whose cathedral is one of the symbols of his history, noting that this disaster affects not only one of the most emblematic historical monuments of the city of Paris, but also a place prayers and recollection for millions of faithful around the world.
Remember that the Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris, one of the most visited monuments in France, is still ravaged by a terrible fire on Monday night, at the same time that important means have been deployed to try to circumscribe the disaster.
The fire, which ravaged the roof and the frames of the building, already caused the collapse of the spire of the cathedral, which culminated at 93 meters.
The fire, which broke out around 18:50, is “potentially linked” to the building’s renovation work, according to firefighters.
The fire would have taken in the attic of the cathedral, according to the same sources.
The Paris public prosecutor’s office has, in any case, opened an investigation to determine the causes of the fire which, according to the latest indications reported by the media, would not have caused casualties.
In a tweet following the fire, Emmanuel Macron said he was “sad to see this part of us burn”.
