Aziz Akhannouch and Othman Benjelloun are the only two Moroccans in Forbes’ new ranking of the world’s greatest fortunes.
Akhannouch, boss of Afriquia Gaz and Maghreb Oxygène, remains the first fortune of Morocco with assets estimated at $ 2 billion against $ 2.2 billion in March 2018. It occupies the 1,168th place in the ranking. As for Othman Benjelloun, he sees his fortune go from $ 1.6 billion to $ 1.8 billion in the new ranking. The boss of BMCE Bank of Africa ranks at 1,281st position.
It is the founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos with its 131 billion dollars remains the biggest fortune in the world ahead of Bill Gates (96.5 billion dollars) and Warren Buffet (82.5 billion dollars). Bernard Arnault of France is fourth with $ 76 billion, followed by Mexico’s Carlos Slim ($ 64 billion). Amancio Ortega, the founder of Zara follows with 62.7 billion before Larry Ellison (62.5 billion) and the founder of Facebook, Marck Zuckerberg (62.3 billion) who loses nearly 10 billion dollars.
