Green Climate Fund: AWB wins accreditation

The Attijariwafa bank group (AWB) is accredited by the United Nations Green Climate Fund (GCF) as a financial intermediary for the implementation of green financing in Africa.

The bank, accredited at the 22nd meeting of the Board of Directors of the Green Climate Fund, held from February 26 to 28, in South Korea, will work in partnership with the Fund to support its public and private clients in their sustainable development projects in Africa. The expected amount of co-financing or investment guarantees may exceed $ 250 million.

AWB and the Fund are bound by due diligence to ensure that the Group has the necessary procedures and experience to fund green projects in partnership with the institution. It is the 1st African and MENA commercial bank, as well as the 7th in the world to obtain this accreditation with regional coverage. This is an important step in the CSR approach and accompanying the energy transition for AWB.
