Hassan II Grand Prix: Three French and one Italian for quarter

After Gilles Simon, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The Frenchman, now 116th in the world, has qualified for the quarterfinals of the ATP tournament in Marrakech Wednesday dominating the British Kyle Edmund 7-6 (8/6), 6-3.

At 33, Tsonga, former N.5 world, has removed Edmund, 22nd in the ATP standings and seeded N.3 of the Moroccan tournament, in just under an hour and a half.

He will play a spot in the final square on Friday against Italian Lorenzo Sonego.

The day smiled on another Frenchman: Gilles Simon, in form at the beginning of the season on clay, has also validated his ticket to the quarter flying over his eighth against the Argentinian Guido Andreozzi (90th worldwide), 6-2, 6-2.

After an easy start against Slovakia’s Jozef Kovalik (120), where he lost only five games, the 27th player remained on the same pace on Wednesday. He will challenge the Japanese Taro Daniel (75th) in the quarterfinals.

A third frecnhman will also qualify for the quarterbacks in Marrakech since an eighth final opposes, Thursday, Benoit Paire to Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
