Hotel Lincoln in Casablanca finally rehabilitated

After various attempts to rehabilitate the Bessonneau building known by the casablancais under the name “Hotel Lincoln”, the mythical establishment of the 1910s will experience a well-deserved makeover.

The Casablanca Urban Agency (AUC), which launched last July a third call for expression of interest in the space of three years (2015-2016 and 2018) for the choice of an investor to renovate and refurbish the property of Lincoln hotel, delivered its verdict. According to the Governor, Director General of the AUC, the French group “Réalités International” has won this market of nearly 150 Million MAD.

The hotel will be built on nearly 2500 m² while preserving the historic facade, as the building is listed in the national heritage directory. This renovation of the site, currently protected by a metal facade, will start next year.

As a reminder, it was in 2007 that the government made the decision to give the AUC the care to be in possession of the Lincoln Hotel. The Urban Agency of Casablanca had acquired it following the order of the Administrative Court of Casablanca, dated March 2009, in return for an amount of 11 Million dirhams deposited in May 2009 to the “Caisse de dépôt et de gestion” (CDG) and which represents the provisional indemnity relating to the expropriation of the site. The former owner who appealed to the Court of Cassation, was dismissed.
