Ikea prepares the opening of a new store in Morocco

Ikea, the leading Swedish furniture and decoration company, is preparing to open a second store in Morocco, in order to reach thousands of households.

Ikea wants to get closer to its customers. In this sense, it plans to open a new store in July 2022 in the province of Tetouan within the commercial zone developed by Tanger Med Zones. SYH, the company that owns the Ikea franchise in Morocco, this project is a continuation of the brand’s development plan over the past 5 years, which has enabled the launch, in addition to the Zenata department store, of several Ikea “pop-ups”, as well as the new store format at the Morocco Mall in Casablanca in addition to the e-commerce site. In all, 500 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs will be created in the region.

The financing cost of the project is estimated at MAD 400 million. The future store will be erected on an area of ​​16,100 m². This store will consist of a 3,700 m² showroom, a 3,450 m² market hall, Ikea’s first restaurant with terrace, which can accommodate up to 250 people, an exhibition space exterior in the form of a glass roof over 500 m², for displaying the range of outdoor furniture throughout the year. Tanger Med is a project partner.
