Martin Scorsese honored Robert De Niro at the Marrakesh Festival

Two world stars shined at the Marrakesh International Film Festival. In honor of this edition, Robert de Niro received from his old friend, Martin Scorsese, the FIFM’s Golden Star, as a tribute to his outstanding acting career.

Greeting his friend forever, Robert de Niro recalled that they made their first films together almost 45 years ago. “It’s one of the greatest things in my life”, he said.

Robert de Niro said he was happy with the tribute and played selfies and autographs when he arrived on the red carpet of the Palais des Congrès. He did not hide his emotion during the interminable ovation that reserved the public to him on his stage.

With 38 films between 1971 and 2018, Robert de Niro worked with other great directors such as Francis Ford Coppola, Brian de Palma, Elia Kazan, Sergio Leone, Michael Cimino, Michael Mann and Quentin Tarantino.

His next film, “The Irishman”, which will be released exclusively on Netflix in 2019, is inspired by a true story, that of the hit man of the mafia Frank Sheeran.
