Mediterranean: More than a hundred missing migrants

Dozens of migrants have disappeared in the Mediterranean since Saturday following the sinking of their boat, said the International Organization of Migration (IOM). Leaving the Libyan coast, migrants remained unaccounted for on Saturday night. Only three survivors were rescued. They say that their boat contained 120 people, including 10 women and two children.

According to the Italian Navy, the boat in distress had been located by the crew of a military reconnaissance aircraft, which launched two lifeboats before leaving the area for lack of fuel. Three dead bodies would have been located. In 2018, 2,297 migrants perished in the Mediterranean. Since the beginning of the year, 4,216 arrivals in Europe have been registered against 2,365 during the same period of the past year.
