Meghan Markle, the wife of Prince Harry, gave birth on Monday, May 6th to a little boy. The British monarchy announced that the baby was born at 5:26.
“We are delighted to announce that Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have welcomed their first child early in the morning of May 6, 2019. The son of Their Royal Highnesses weighs 3,260 pounds. The duchess and the baby are in perfect health and are well, and the couple thanks the audience for the enthusiasm and support it has shown during this very special time of their lives,” reads the press release of the palace.
We also learn that Prince Harry was present during delivery. “The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, and Count Spencer have been informed and delighted by this news. The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, filled with the birth of her first child, is with the couple at Frogmore Cottage,” the statement added.
Meghan Markle, who was an actress before joining the royal family, becomes a mother for the first time at age 37. The child, whose name has not yet been revealed, is 7th in the order of succession to the British throne.
